Although the primary responsibility of our offices across the United States is to aid Canadian-based companies seeking cross-border business opportunities, they can also be of assistance to American-based companies. Not only can Canada's experienced Trade Commissioners and Business Development Officers be of assistance to those interested in sourcing Canadian products and services, but they can also help American-based companies seeking cross-border business partnerships. Furthermore, our offices in the U.S. also work to promote Canada as an attractive investment location for U.S.-based firms and to facilitate the process once the decision to invest is taken. It is important to note, however, that our offices in the U.S. do not work on behalf of U.S.-based exporters seeking to enter the Canadian market. This role is best performed by the U.S. Commerical Service, which has offices in various locations across Canada. Nevertheless, the Canadian Embassy, the Consulates General and their satellite trade offices in the U.S. are capable of and experienced in assisting U.S.-based companies in the following areas:

  • Find a Canadian Supplier — For businesses seeking information on potential Canadian partners and clients, Our Offices in the U.S. may be able to help them find what they are looking for within their target territories. As well, there are a number of Useful Resources in Both Canada and the U.S. that offer information and advice.
